GOOD WIFE vs SUMMER IN THE CITY

I was offered a job here for the summer. The only hitch is that instead of being a Cabin Girl, I'd be a Kitchen Boy. Normally the kitchen is an all guys crew (Don't ask why. The ranch is not politically correct at all.) but all the girls' crews were full and they wanted to keep somehow so they invited me into the kitchen.

Various people's reactions to this news:
My roommate, Mary Ellen: "You're going to be such a good wife. You'll know how to clean AND cook by the time you leave here."
Biff: "Hey, Hey! You're going to be the KH!...the kitchen hottie."
J Ham, my Cabin Girl crew leader: "What!?!?!?!? You should have just told me you were leaving the ranch."
Mike, head of maintenance: "Hahahhahaha. Remind me to NOT eat in the DR anytime soon."
Hannah: "Um..is this a good thing?"

This IS a good thing. I'm a little nervous, not going to lie. But at the same time I'm excited to try something new. I'm definitely going to give it a try.
That being said, I'm not going to be coming home to Chicago until August now. Which DOES make me sad because I don't get to spend summer in the city with all my friends I haven't seen all year.
And it has been quite awhile since I've seen my family. I miss them.

But at the same time I love this place. It's awesome. Not just the fact that I step outside every morning and am awestruck by Sawtooth getting hit with just the tips of the sun but I love the community, the people, even the work, the growth that I'm having here. I love it all. Yes, I DO wish there was an hour or two more in the day where everyone was required to sleep, but what can I do about that?
