IT SEEMED LIKE HOME

It almost seemed like I was home in Chicago today.
There were 30 mph winds howling all day and I saw a squirrel. It was jet black with the biggest bushiest tail I've ever seen.

It almost seemed like it was summer today.
There was 70 degree temperatures and I was barefoot all day. This was tricky at times, like when I had to walk down the gravel path to the staff room.

It seemed like home here today.
There was a maintenance boy who greeted me with a hug and I knew where to find a humidifier. It was buried in the Coal Bin under enough boxes of matches to last the ranch until the year 2019.

It seemed like home here today.
There was the time I swerved around the elephant pothole instinctively and now I'm sitting in my bunkhouse with a good friend. This is calming: she's doing her thing contently, I'm doing my thing contently.

that's good and sad at the same time. good that you found a place where you feel loved, and sad that we're not home anymore :(
